The Last Temptation:In Multiple Ellipses

I decided to take my French lessons in Makati partly because of, well, Makati.

*
For the past six months, I barely watched TV and went to the Mall. Which made me miss the notorious shopping spots around Manila--So boom! I pass buy 3 malls when I go home from where else? What? You thought I missed advertising?

Yes/No mainly no. When I see my batchmates? Yeah sometimes. I feel grossly underpaid when I see them. I feel robbed when I see the things that I could very well be experiencing too--If I stayed. But who said I'll have the same experiences they're having anyway? And I don't miss the work that much.

*I think anybody would easily see my life as boring--cause sometimes I think it too. Actually no--always. But I world it in the second and third person. This is because, it's just me. I end up doing the "boring" things I do because...I enjoy it.

**To paint a picture:

I don't really like drinking alcohol.

I shy away from crowds.

I don't really spend much on anything "for the body"--literal level

My idea of a "saucy" (expensive) Friday night out is at Starbucks reading fiction (or if school's in, the required readings).

and

on the eve of a long (holy) weekend, I window shop.

wek wek wek

*You see chronic boredom is a privilege. It means you have "time" to be bored. Don't you agree? It means that you've satisfied the basic levels of Maslow's pyramid. And you are left with choices or the absence of them. It is a condition made acute by time. You can sum all it up with: "What happens now?" We have different ways to react to the question. But the most (almost arbitrary) common one would be to make a plan. Ahhh the Plan. It's good, healthy, but my only caution is DO NOT get ahead of yourself. Paradox? Yes.

So I did a couple of rounds in Glorietta, Greenbelt, and SM last night.

There I was feeling all good and content the other day, only to realize how I am much left in wanting. Hehehe

Passed by a more completed Greenbelt 5 at one point in the evening and wow...the place looks really good. From the lighting even to the floor tile design--say what you want but the Ayala's really have style :p

*Speaking about style.
Do you remember the line in Jose Rizal's "El Filibusterismo" the one where in Simoun says something like: "Even the most atrocious crimes will be forgotten if done in style."
Yes! I seriously read something to that effect when I read it, the English translation though, I can't remember if it is the one done by Guerrero or Locsin (I read the two :) and it just stayed with me. Shit! you can write a novel or something with that one line hehehe. Or it could be a villain's mantra or something...if I remember correctly it's in the part where Simoun discusses his plans to blow up this party to the older Basilio--must check.

Went to the upper floor and saw a string of furniture shops. And saw this really nice reading lamps. Pag nakapagtayo na talaga ako ng sarili kong bahay bibili ako nito. The smallest one would do but I won't mind the floor lamp, imagine that beside a big plump leather couch *sweet.

Price range? Php 14,000 to 25,000

And I'm having the itch to buy a new pair of glasses again. So I stopped by almost all the optical stores round the area hehehe. Well since the one I'm having is almost a year old I want a new look to complement 2009 hehehe. Though don't get me wrong I really love the dark havana Rayban that I'm wearing right now--an impulse buy with my 13th month pay. Arrgghhh. To justify...well I really don't spend on clothes much really so forgive the man his excess!

I wanted a Rayban wayfarer (sunglass converted to eyeglass) before, but it seems its becoming a bit more common to the "artsy" set. You can't blame the lot, the look just really feels right hehehe so when I saw this dark havanas, which is more eyeglass than sunglass (but still with the wayfarer feel) I bought it. As in I stopped by an ATM withdrew my bonus and bought it! And I have come to love it everyday hehehe

but I wouldn't mind owning another pair, particularly this.
Price Php 8,000+

A bit pricey if you factor in the brand: "Lucky Brand" ??? didn't get to check where this was made (I'd take Italian any day) but the style looks really good. It's in a matte black finish--plastic and it looks goood on me :-) Thanks to the sales lady who let me try out a couple more frames even if I wasn't buying.

Am looking at Persols too but most of the designs I see available here kinda suck. And they're cheap! like Php 2,000 or 3,000--I wonder if they're original.

But something else caught my attention, too bad the store didn't have it on display just the print ad it's from Prada yep. I'm not really too big on the logo slinging frames but this form factor looks really good, just made a quick draw of what I remember.

The particular thing that struck me is the thick heavy rim above the frame. Though I don't know how this would look on me (since I'm no Prada model), the design looks promising. I'll be looking for similar styles to check out in the future.

Then went to Hobbes and Lands(?) don't know how you spell it, comment ca s'ecrit? :)
I think I've outgrown board games but wala lang they sell other interesting (overpriced) stuff in this joint so I went in, saw this, thought it really cute:

Ngek!
Price: Php 300+

I want a cat thing for my desk at the office kasi. And c'mon the cat's holding a dead fish! How can you not like it. Parang yung look pag nahuli mo yung pusa mong kumukupit ng tinapang ulam niyo kagabi, alam mo yun, yung parang gulat na wide-eyed hehehe.

Yun lang. passed by the bookstores too syempre: the two Powerbooks in Glorietta and Greenbelt and I must say BOO! Kahit yung bagong Fullybooked branch sa Greenbelt5 BOO! Talo pa sila ng National Bookstore pag dating sa extensiveness ng foreign language books nila. C'mon can you justify your steep prices once in awhile--and no. being in sosyal locations don't count.

Didn't feel like looking for new books besides the nice Olive Edition of Kundera's book and a novel by Waugh (talk about it another time)--since my summer reading list is packed enough.
But all in all there

oh

went it to a couple of clothing stores too. eh since wala na rin naman nakong magawa diba. Atsaka, yung mga sinusuot ko na pang-alis eh yung ginagamit ko pa nung first yr college ako. LOL!!!

and besides, I am exerting a little effort to look a little better for the ladies narin. Hehehe
saw this nice shoes at Topman yung pwede pang casual na dress shoes. Kasi yung ginagamit ko paring formal shoes eh yung binili ko nung prom ko nung 4th yr haiskul ako hahaha and a new pair of shoes! Am a little bias towards Adidas since I love the white Sambas I use almost everyday...heck! I might bought the exact same one. Yun lang naman. hehehe
