as part of my life's "french invasion"--and the willing surrender of my being--i'm looking for french tunes that i could easily adopt to my taste. para naman i could practice spitting out french stuff (with matching tono). i must admit trying to speak french among my family and friends has been kinda tough, basically cause i feel like a jackass most of the time, i feel pretentious, kahit saying "merci" or "a plus tard"--wala eh i feel like i'm addressing a matrona with a feather boa complete with cigarette stuck on a long-ish pipe. but pakapalan na kasi ito. ang mahal-mahal din lang ng binabayad ko sa french classes na'to might as well diba make it worthwhile, hindi nga, kung mura sa inyo, saken hindi kasi, pamasahe ko pa, pang-meryenda etc.--not to mention nakakapagod ang biyahe, not to mention din na galing pako sa work.
kaya besides watching TV5MONDE ("tivisankmound") as often as i can (to alliance's credit at least gets ko na kapag my nagpapakilala, o kapag merong simpleng "êtres et avoirs", o kapag sinasabi kung kailan ipapalabas, o kaya'y pag may nagbibilang--anywhere between 1 to 1 million hahaha besides that everything just escapes me) i'm trying to supplement my classes with these feeble attempts at french immersion.
i must say i get a little kick out of reading french out loud--with phony aplomb! LOL, even if i don't understand most of what i am saying, i do it mostly when i'm alone--mind you.
but anyways,
Ondulé by Mathieu Boogaerts is really amazing. i liked it instantly cause the rhythm is a killer. from the few words that i get, i think it's about "going with the flow?" kasi ondulé is "undulate" in english hahaha
anyways it's really not bad, lalo na when you know na it's more than a decade old like mid-nineties old. the mental "MTV" in my head when i listen to it is, syempre parisian setting, i'm in a café late afternoon waiting for my date, which happens to be audrey tautou: she's late i wait for her, we order, then we have this really messy food fight, and towards the end of the song we hold hands across the table and laugh about it.
très bien,
Oui!
très français!
