i bought an expensive bottle of perfume on impulse.
well not exactly on impulse, since--I've been eyeing this particular scent a couple of months back...no, actually, you can say as far back as my senior yr in college*. So armed by an unexpected windfall (my performance bonus from my old job) i bought my first bottle of signature scent--and am really liking it.
Burberry is a brand that i notice for the simple fact that it's English, and I've always wanted to go to London--you know, i am colonial that way. and seeing the ad for "London" on the magazines years ago, was memorable for me since i liked the art direction of it (and it has rachel weisz).

i dont know why the sudden urge to buy perfume...but most likely its just because "i can". besides since i'm in the service of capitalism might as well succumb to it and reap it's offerings...so an overpriced bottle of oils and musk sugarcoated with great advertising/marketing was the most natural option for me to channel my new found (illusory) indulgence to exercise my purchasing power.
so i've got to say, i really like the way i smell today. I have the special 2009 edition, though i'm trying to look for the "classic" one just to compare. i like how warm it smells, even on the skin behind my ears as i spray it you can feel a bit of "heat".
im not too keen on the bottle design though, i wanted Burberry Brit or Burberry the Beat since they have nicer bottles...especially the Brit one... but i found that the scents were not for me, the first one's i dont know powdery in a girly way and the other one smells like shaving cologne.
hehehe
i heard somewhere that signature fragrances are a means for poor people to experience "la haute maison". well yeah i guess, cause i don't see myself buying a 2000 dollar trench anytime soon.
in the mean time Burberry London makes me feel fine
oh yeah.
*i wore signature scents before, mainly through my father's stash. so i've come to like the scents he has used over the years, Davidoff Cool Water, Aqui di Gio, Bulgari Blue... so burberry London is the first time that i chose one for myself

Its cologne, not perfume. -zia
Zia, it's perfume since it's eau de toillete--meaning higher oil concentration than cologne.
