Grey Horizon

a lot of things look well on paper. theoretical prowess, ahhh something we humans are pretty good at--and as any human… I suck at application. i couldn't pass up the opportunity to escape this corporate death knell to blog about it--well the subject is of course the main reason why… art.

Well it isn't about aesthetics but it involves something about the creation of art…the problem?

to what extent does an artist "own" his work?

sure, i have to be honest here-- i pertain to my own predicament… art in the context of advertising. A big fat can of worms i know.

I guess things would be a lot easier if i say that what i do isn't art--but forgive me… i still want to believe that it is… i need that illusory consolation because I'll go mad if it is denied.

but maybe that's just it, the very reason why i really don't like what i do in the first place… i still believe that what i do is art.

anyways.

I've learned to accept that most of the things in my line of work is out of my control, and on the most harrowing days basically i design with the client on my back.

today, i'll just be out with it:
i feel bad that something i mainly designed now is in the hands of another art director in the "presentation" stage.

I know!

it's just ego. i know. but no matter how i brush it aside, i feel bad, annoyed--whatever.

even if i know that the mature response should be "it's just work"
