A lot of things have happened over the past eventful weekends, and I haven't written them down-- and I wanna make up for it. Though there is nothing like writing in the moment, in the spirit of things, let me put these out in cyberspace nonetheless.
*Will the internet be here forever? When human civilization ends would the aliens or succeeding species of intelligent life on earth retrieve the silken strands of the web and distill it to intelligible garble?
I ordered Vampire Weekend's new album on Amazon a month ahead of the release date around February of this year. Though it got delayed and arrived in May, I'm very happy to say that it was worth the wait ;) though it crossed my mind to download and get it over with-- I delayed my gratification and reminded myself that patience was a virtue.
What can I say... though there are many different opinions/mixed reviews about the new album and the "New" sound for the most part... I like it. I know that there aren't Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa's on this one, talk of Mansard roofs, fuckin' a girl with her sweater on or fallin' in love with your English teacher--but the album works!
i think the tennis song "giving up the gun" is brilliant-- and that song about an unsentimental cab ride is awesome.
To ezra and the gang, you've outdone yourselves,
keep it up!
