The Flood
What the F happened yesterday?
Woke up to non-stop rains on Saturday.
Had plans to go the library.
Seriously. I wasn't deterred even if it was like 1000 Spartans were throwing pails of water on our roof (brand new btw ;-) ... because I really thought it was nothing serious, the rain will pass, no biggie.
--->The first street is flooded (Again i thought, no biggie, this usually happens when the rains are rough) so I walked and took a different route to the main road, 20 mins into it, I was completely soaked... (again I thought no biggie, I'll just take a cab home and just get the books I need quickly)...then winds messed up my glasses, I couldn't see a thing... took a cab...
we couldn't go anywhere.
almost all the roads were underwater...and I even saw a car submerged with only its windshield visible!
so 30mins later, I was back at home.
...
The highest rainfall volume since 1967! And it broke the record in just 6 hours of rain.
And we live above the Marikina valley!
I think this is the second time since I experienced Metro Manila in state of calamity.
The last time was the eruption of Mount Pinatubo in the early 1990s. Man, do you guys remember the ash fall? how everything was covered in fine grey powder?
...I am glad that we weren't affected much. Cause I don't know what I'd do, if all our stuff gets washed away by the flood...the predicament of a thousand Filipino families right now.
What have we done?
