Big People on Art

I can't really do anything about the religion part.
But I'll pick some bones on the argument of "taste".

This week, Medeo Cruz's art was heard on the senate
and some National Artists have spoken--the culturati, literati and the elites

some of the more "liberal" minded men tried to argue on a different level,
so the question of taste was given.

There can be no objective standards of taste.
And when we go to the realm of subjectivity, nako po sakit sa ulo 'yan. Basta ako
it's your art, it's your statement--Sino ako para pigilan ka?
Ultimately pinapakita mo lang ang mga biases mo kapag sinabi mong panget o maganda ito
ang saken lang, MALAKING problema kapag ginagawa mong universal ang mga
panananaw mo, at ini-impose mo sa ibang tao.

Taste.

I think art will continue to be relevant to our age if it constantly questions the biases of our society. Kaya nga ako nasa art field kasi napaka bukas nito, it's almost a universal medium.
