Two things:
1. Google's ART PROJECT
Virtual Tours of museums worldwide? Just a taste of things to come. But I still want to have lunch "at the steps" hahaha.
And I thought iTunes U and Google Books were the shit.
Some criticism though:
Now that "Art" is more readily available to everyone who has internet access, I think that there is a much more pressing need to "interest" the general public--the two things are mutually exclusive. Sure I can see shit from The Met but why would I want to do that?
And this opens another can of worms. It smacks on another implication--the domination of western culture. Yes, cultural imperialism. --who holds the keys to culture reigns supreme, though I know it's still new, but take a look at the museums featured, European and American lang right? And what are the "Art" objects they showcase?--mostly oil paintings!!! THE GLORIFICATION OF POWER! OF MATERIALISM! OF OBJET D'ART!
Beware of the means you get and access information. Be weary. Be critical.
I won't mind if Google becomes politically correct:
2. DVD Flick saved my life
Last night I didn't sleep until 6am. It was because I had trouble transferring my DivX movie (you know where that came from hehehe) to a DVD playable disc. A couple of hours and wasted disks later I was at the brink of loosing my patience. The file burned can play on my DVD player but there's no freaking audio. So as novice techie troubleshooting goes, it was time to read internet threads.
Too bad that it's only available in windows for now (So I transferred them one by one to my PC). But it's open source so it's free! Salute to the people who make open source stuff. Really.
But it's only then that I realized that the Mac has iDVD--hmmm
