Inferno with a cup of Chai

Spent the remaining hours of Easter finishing "Inferno" of Dante. Yeah, I didn't make the cut of the 3 cantos for the vacay--but let me tell you one thing, Dante so far manages to create a fairly readable yet engaging narrative--which surprises me because I really thought this would be quite a "chore" to read--what with the numerous footnotes and appendices you need to consult.

I just love the visceral imagery of macabre: like the serpents in the pit of thieves, the demons that skewer human flesh, the river of boiling blood--and the titans that guard the gate of Dis (Nimrod blowing the ivory horn, Babel-meaning confusion--de vulgari eloquentia--the ninth (final) circle of hell which surprisingly is covered with the frozen river Cocytus. just Splendid!

and of course Satan himself devouring Judas, Brutus and Cassius (thank God I watched Rome on HBO hehehe) in the final circle.

now the Journey continues
to Mount Purgatory.

Virgil is a really cool guide too.
;P

*my reading experience was also enhanced with my fave cup of Chai tea. and yeah finally succumbed and bought a can of Coffee Bean's Chai tea bags for a whoppin' 595pesos--its the same thing they serve as Lattes so I'd like to think na mas nakamura ako--and the Eastwood branch had a newer batch that expires in 2o11 so that was a plus.

so i am actually excited to open this tomorrow at work (life's small pleasures). will try three different ways of latte-ing it. 1. Condensed Milk; 2. Powdered milk and sugar; 3. Coffee creamer
